Event Recap: Otakon 2024
By Skywing Knights // November 26, 2024
Yep, it’s been months. And yep, I’m still writing and posting this now because why not? Haha. ^^;
Otakon was low key, but fun for me this year and I got to enjoy it with my friend Tsukasa325. For the first day, she and I put together casual outfits for Raven and Starfire from “Teen Titans.” And you all know how much I love those two! So we ran around having a lot of fun exploring the artist alley and dealer’s hall.
I was also lucky enough to meet and get autographs from Britt Baron and Briana White. They played Tifa Lockhart and Aerith Gainsborough respectively in the new Final Fantasy Remake and Rebirth games. Having just 100% the game on normal mode (because how at that point could I have been expected to have the time to 100% it on hard mode at that point?? 😉 ), it was really cool to see them. Additionally, I was happy to attend a number of panels related to Rebirth. Many had numerous cast members and developers present, which was really fun.
Meanwhile, the second day I brought Rei Todoroki back as I wanted to wear something lightweight and comfy. I got the chance to go to the My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia – 僕のヒーローアカデミア) cosplay meetup, where I gushed over everyone’s fun cosplays. I was delighted to see others dressed as Katsuki and Deku’s moms, as well as all of the Todoroki family members (Sorry to all the Shotos there that I traumatized. Trust me, I know the feeling, haha!). But it was so fun meeting you all – and everyone at the meetup!
It absolutely made me want to find my Dabi though and run around either grounding him as his mother or being the subject of his abuse as his brother. Ah… the odd conundrum it is to cosplay both as his brother and his mother…

Overall, Otakon 2024 was a much needed excursion for me at the time. I was still dealing with heavy family trauma and it made me feel slightly warm again to spend it with kind people and one of my best friends. So thank you so much to everyone who came, talked to me, and delighted in the art of anime with me.
Till next time,
