Featured Artist Spotlight: Super Carlin Brothers
By Skywing Knights // March 23, 2019
Hey Brother!
Today, for this month’s Featured Artist Spotlight, I’m indulging a bit today and sharing with you a bit about two of my favorite Youtubers, J (Jonathan) and Ben Carlin, stars of the Super Carlin Brothers Youtube Channel for today’s Artist Spotlight Series. Starting their channel in April of 2012, J and Ben focus primarily on bringing to their audience Disney (from Star Wars to Princesses), Pixar, and Harry Potter theories, rankings, quizzes, and historic entertainment insights. So why am I adding them to the Artist Spotlight Series? (Aside from the fact that I’m pretty sure I’ve watched a high majority of their videos that is).
Vlogging and creating Youtube Channels are perhaps not traditional forms of art, but with the growth of the Internet and the vast amount of material there is to sift through online, to stand out, you have to be excellent, precise, entertaining, and unique. All of which, the Carlin Brothers nail. How?
Simply put, J, Ben, and their crew do an excellent job researching their material, laying it out, and presenting it in a way that is appealing to their audiences (particularly looking at the age ranges of those watching). And they do all of this at least twice a week (they have two more Youtube Channels on which they post as well). Aside from being highly entertaining, the two have also gone out of their way to make their channel family friendly, which is a nice change of pace in the daily mundane outputs of Youtube (on which, let’s be honest, you’re not always sure what you’re going to get).
In that regard, you get to hear and see some fascinating theories as well as be able to share them with anyone! Additionally, their channels have grown to not only be collections of videos, but a platform on which they’ve managed to create whole communities where fans of various pop culture topics can meet and make wonderful friendships. Art that does that is pretty freakin’ cool!
Below you’ll find 3 of my favorites from the pair of brothers on their main channel, each from a different category they focus on.
“Top 5 Snubbed Disney Princesses”
“The Complete Pixar Theory”
“Voldemort’s Failed Horcrux”
Want to meet these brothers? They often run meetups dedicated to special move screenings too! Again, it’s another great way that they’ve built a community through their videos. If they’re in your area, you should totally check them out!

What’s perhaps so inspiring about these two brothers though is that they didn’t give up. They didn’t get to where they were right away and, in fact, they did face challenges in the beginning. But they worked at it – they took constructive feedback and used it to make their channel better and what it is today.
So whatever your art, don’t give up. Take a leaf out of these brothers’ books and keep working at whatever it is you’re doing. In short know this: Hard work DOES pay off. And check out the Super Carlin Brothers!
Sincerely,
~Skywing
