Merry Christmas 2020!

Merry Christmas 2020 everyone!
As you can probably tell, the holidays were super hectic for me this year. Which is why this is coming out LITERALLY on New Year’s Eve. (Who else is ready for 2021 to finally get here already?)
But regardless of the hustle and bustle of the season, I did want to make sure I shared a few thoughts I had about the year. Not to say the least, how they relate to this holiday season.
As we all know, Christmas is a special time of year. It’s a time where we bring to the forefront of our minds the things that matter most to us. I think we’ve all been humbled significantly by the events of this year. Our normal freedoms have been taken away from us or restricted for the sake of protecting those most at risk when exposed to COVID-19. There is much heartache around the world. Jobs have been lost. Businesses were destroyed. Suicide rates went up. And mental health issues have soared.
And perhaps the worst part about it all is that in spite of all these measures, there have been some of us who have still had to watch through glass windows as a loved one died due to the virus. In other words, it often feels like no matter what we do, COVID-19 will not simply subside. It keeps going, like a train that won’t slow down…
But you know what?
As I’ve spent the evenings during this Christmas season running errands, wrapping presents, and working longer hours, I’ve come to the conclusion that we as a people are very fortunate. We are all at different stages in our lives and are all facing different struggles. But the beautiful thing that Christmas reminds us of is hope. It reminds us to believe in the good things that will come. And it reminds us that we have the agency to choose. No matter what is thrown at us, we can choose the attitude we have. How great a blessing is that? And it’s one no one can take away from us.
Christmas is a time when we celebrate the reason that we may have hope. That reason is because healing is possible. Broken bodies can be mended. Reconciliation is possible. Mistakes can be learned from. And families can be reunited again and they can be together FOREVER.
Christ is the reason for our joyous hope.
This coming year, we will have a choice. We can choose to see it as useless. We can choose to believe it will be no better than this year. OR we can choose to find the good, to find the blessings. We can choose to Light the World with hope, joy, and love. I feel so incredibly blessed. I have a wonderful family – not perfect, but wonderful none the less. There are wonderful friends in my life. I am one of the millions of Americans blessed by the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and all of the work of the Founding Fathers.
And, perhaps most importantly of all, I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. He came here for us because He loves us. He is the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, and the Lord of Lords. And He will not hesitate to heal all in need.
I love you all very much. I know you are all divine sons and daughters of God. And in conclusion, I hope you all had a very merry Christmas 2020 and to see you next year in 2021, full of hope and good tidings towards your fellow man.
