Happy New Year 2021!

I touched on some of these thoughts briefly yesterday and on some of my social media accounts. But in short, the message I want to bring to you all today is that a year is what you make of it.

We may very well be dealt a rather crummy hand this year once again. But this time, I believe we are ready for it. We are ready to face whatever 2021 has in store for us. We’re strong and capable. But most importantly, we have each other.

This year, my new year’s resolution will be to remember that when it comes to how I view this year, my attitude is everything – because for me, it is. My attitude determines if I am happy or sad. It determines whether I see myself as successful or not. Why? Because I can choose to look for the good in my life, or the bad. I have that agency and no one and nothing can take that away from me. And guess what? Every one of you also has that agency.

Sometimes, the bad may feel overwhelming. In those times, we can all step back, breathe, and choose to look around in our lives and see what good there still is. We can see those good things as blessings. And if we decide to share those blessings, to share joy and love, we may very well find ourselves being pulled out from pits of despair. That, to me, is what got me through 2020.

Regardless of how 2020 went, I’m so looking forward to 2021. Again, a year is what you make it. So this year, I’m making 2021 my best year yet and I hope all of you will join me. We can make a difference in our own lives and in the lives of those around us. So this year, let’s spread that joy, hope, and gladness – especially because we do have each other.
