Today, I’m sharing with you all my experience at Itsukushima (厳島), more popularly referred to as “Miyajima” (宮島) or “Shrine Island”, located southwest of the city of Hiroshima (広島). As one of the “Nihon Sankei” (日本三景), or “Three Views of Japan” coined by the scholar Hayashi Gaho (1618-1688), scholars consider it one of the most scenic and beautiful sites in all of Japan… and that’s an understatement!
As I write this, my heart aches for the people of Paris, France, and the Catholic church who have lost much of Notre Dame. Watching the burning of this magnificent building was gut wrenching.
As Easter is upon us, I wish to express to you all some Easter Thoughts on why I rely on Christ in my life. Because for me, faith in Jesus Christ, has been about the most liberating force ever in my life. Many people have asked me how this is possible.
Last week, my grandmother passed away and so my family has been busy making arrangements for her funeral services in the coming days… I’m sad that she’ll never get the Valentine’s Day flowers I sent her, but what I wrote on the note in the flowers’ card I believe is the best summery of her.
It’s December!!!! A wonderful, as some would say, “magical” time of year. But perhaps a better term would be “miraculous”. Because of the thousands of miracles that occur during this time of year.
Happy Thanksgiving 2018! Truly we all have much to be grateful for. Living in a time where, while fallible, so many people strive to show kindness and love to one another.
