Little quick update for me with a bit of a Throwback Thursday post! All the way back in 2015, we went to Hacostadium in Japan and got to take photos of her beautiful Alice in Wonderland cosplay. Not to mention, we did so in the most appropriate setting I’ve ever seen. Check it out!
It must come at no surprise to anyone at this point that one of my favorite things in the world to do while in Japan is go to Musicals. It seriously remains a staple favorite thing of mine to do while in Japan. That’s why today, I wanted to highlight one of the musicals I attended in Japan that proved to be a very lucky snag. That show in question? The Vampire Knight Musical.

For this trip, I wanted my off the beaten path adventures this time around to include a number of locations related to historic events. One of those locations included the resting places of the 47 Ronin (浪人). Yes, those 47 Ronin. Yes, they were real and their graves are right in downtown Tokyo (東京).
Musicals in Japan are the best. Yeah, I said it. I LOVE musicals in Japan. And that’s why today I want to tell you about my absolute, favorite, best Japanese musical experience. That of the time I went to see “Kuroshitsuji: Chi ni Moeru Rikorisu” (“Black Butler: Lycoris that Blazes the Earth”), the third musical adaptation of the manga “Black Butler” by Yana Toboso.
The new Rurouni Kenshin anime debuts today! But have you wanted to know about the real hitokiri, Kawakami Gensai, who served as the inspiration for “Himura Kenshin”? Since I was able to visit his grave this past December, I’ve gleaned a wealth of information about him. So let me tell you about this fascinating individual from Japanese history and how he compares with the infamous Hitokiri Battosai!

Sharing a Tokyo adventure with you all today, one that’s both scary and sweet! Appropriate since we’re in October right? (But actually, it’s much more sweet than scary!) And this adventure today takes us right into Harajuku, to the Kawaii Monster Cafe.
Japan has opened up! And Tokyo will forever be one of the most amazing places you can go in your lifetime. But if you find yourself to be in a bit more of an adventurous mood and are desiring to go beyond the bounds of the main Tokyo railways, you might find one of these amazing side trips from this awesome city to be worth your while during your next trip to Japan.
You’ve likely heard of Harajuku through songs or perhaps via a grape vine of travelers who have been to Tokyo (東京). Or maybe you’ve heard of the “Harajuku Girls” in a fashion magazine somewhere. But none of that really elaborates on just what Harajuku is, what you can do there or what you should make SURE to do there on your epic trip to Japan. So allow me to divulge all you need to know for your day in this fashion forward mecca of the Tokyo Metropolis. 😉
