Trip to the Carolina Renaissance Festival 2023 Recap
By Skywing Knights // December 14, 2023
Two recaps in a row?! What is this?! XD
Yes, yes, two recaps. And I know that I said that CCE 2023 would be my last convention of the year. But that’s technically true because I do consider Renaissance Festivals as a different type of event from conventions. 😉
In any event, this was my first time taking a trip to the Carolina Renaissance Festival. A bunch of friends and I pulled our money, got an AirBnB and then one by one made our way down the Friday before we went to the festival. (And yes, my roommate and I arrived last haha).
As usual, I opted to go as Anna from Frozen for this trip to the Carolina Renaissance Festival. So on Saturday morning, I got up early (did I even sleep? ^^; ) and proceeded to get ready before we all piled into the cars and made our way over to the event.
Fun at the Festival
Normally, my friends and I go to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. So by comparison, the Carolina Renaissance Festival was a bit smaller than what we normally are used to. However, we LOVED all of the shops there and were delighted that there were a lot more things we could afford to buy. (Normally, we’re only able to afford admission and food at Maryland).
I know some of my friends bought maps and spices, while I ended up buying candles. I almost ended up buying a tail from FinFolk as they had a shop there (and if I’m being honest, their store was the main reason I really wanted to go lol).
Ultimately, I backed out only because if I was going to spend the money, I really wanted to be in love with what I bought. What I saw was almost perfect, but I wanted the calf fins and sadly they were sold out of that in the color I wanted at the time. I keep holding out for a royal blue color, but what do you think? What color should I get if I were to buy a mermaid tail? What color would you get?
Our Overall Experience
In any event, aside from shopping, we had a ton of fun. We saw a joust and walked until out feet ached. I was delighted to be able to also bring a lot of joy to a number of little girls while at the event. (Not to mention a number of little boys too! There were a bunch to my surprise who clearly had a crush on Anna and were star struck. It was too cute!)
All that said, I wear Anna a LOT to these kinds of festivals and I am hoping to change it up a bit. What do you think? Any character in particular I should do for the Renaissance Festivals next year? 😉
In short, it was a ton of fun and I highly recommend taking a trip to the Carolina Renaissance Festival if you get the chance. It’s a GREAT Renaissance Festival and I hope I can go again in the future!
Till next time, my lords and ladies,
